Demonstrations
I enjoy teaching and sharing my love of art with others.
I am available to give demonstrations or hold workshops (day or half-day) with Art Groups or classes. I work in watercolours, pastels (soft and oil), pen & wash, acrylics, coloured pencil and mixed media.
Mixed media is an interesting subject as is using texture in acrylics. My work is mainly representational. I paint land and seascapes, animals, flowers and chickens - and anything else that takes my fancy (including still-life from time to time).
One of my most popular demonstrations is large, close-focus flowers in watercolour. I paint these on full-Imperial size paper and work on an upright easel - messy but fun! They are quite spectacular to see.
Chickens are a passion of mine - painting them that is. I usually paint Bantam cockerels - they are great characters and very, very vain. I work from photographs taken at agricultural shows and, at first, I was reluctant to use a flash in case it upset the birds. A poultry judge told me it would be all right to photograph them and he was right! They vie and push with each other to be photographed - telling me which is their `best side`!
